What the members want

PE

IMechE should put up a regular "Vote on This" box on the PE website and create a "Wish List" on the IMechE website

"At times it is difficult to know what the members want, and they often want contradictory things. It can be difficult to get a representative view from such a large number of members, but we should strive to do that."

In case Prof. Smith hasn't noticed, the Internet and "social media" are rapidly becoming quite adept at doing just that.

If IMechE @ HQ wants to know what the "grass roots" feeling is, it has only to put up a regular "Vote on This" box on this PE website front page (with membership number entry for validation) and create a "Wish List" page in the Members Section of the IMechE website. The number of responses on the former will be a good gauge of how important Members feel the topic is; and while I am sure that there will be some facetious suggestions on the latter, it is bound to turn up quite a few topics which no-one would otherwise have thought of.
