Where are they now? Stephanie Alexander

BOSCH recruit only 6-8 lucky students each year. FS interviewed Stephanie Alexander to find out what she did to catch their eye.

As part of your two year graduate scheme at Bosch, which four rotations did you choose and why?

In the Graduate Programme, you do four different rotations over a two year period. I have chosen to do my four rotations in Quality, Application, Project Management and Sales. This has allowed me to get a well-rounded view of Bosch as a company and see how many functions within a team work together for one common goal.

How has your time with Bosch been so far?

My time with Bosch has been great so far. I have been able to work with diverse teams and gain new knowledge on a variety of topics.

Bosch only recruit 6-8 students each year. What was it that you think caught the eye of Bosch?

The activities I participate in outside of my working life helped to show my personality and who I am, which I think helped with being accepted for this job.

What role do you aspire to at the end of your 2 years?

In terms of the role I wish to start when I finish the graduate programme, this is still being decided on a personal level. I want to give every role a chance before I make my decision for the future. Because there are so many different roles within the engineering sector, there is a diverse range of activities to choose from, making my decision very important.

What has been your favourite moment so far?

My favourite moment so far has been the testing trips I have been fortunate to go on around the UK. Each one was unique and gave me a new perspective of work away from my desk. Working with multiple customers gives you a lot of chances to travel internationally as well, which I do enjoy.

What advice would you give to this years’ FS Students?

My advice to Formula Student participants – start the job search early. It may be stressful at the beginning but if you are fortunate to find a job before your final exams, it is one less stress to worry about. You can then look forward to your summer and your Formula Student activities!

I will be at the Bosch stand this year answering questions about all things Bosch plus any other career advice. I feel it’s important to give back to the competition as I know how much stress you have to go through to get to the end result!
