John left a senior corporate role in 2006 and has since built a successful coaching, training and consultancy business. With Board experience in both the public and private sectors, he has a passion for exceeding customer expectations. He has a track record of coaching and helping his clients achieve excellence in sales and marketing, new business, product and customer development, business planning and turnaround. His coaching is deeply rooted in his extensive commercial and corporate experience of successfully leading and motivating large teams of people.
Coaching approach
Successful coaching is a combination of skills and mindset. Qualities such as patience, listening, picking up clues, asking penetrating questions and summarising and paraphrasing effectively. Mindset includes building rapport with the coachee by demonstrating empathy, being non-judgmental, having high aspirations for them, being curious and letting them come up with their own answers. Motivational interviewing is a powerful approach that John uses, in addition to tools and methodologies such as GROW, POSITIVE and OSKAR. John believe that we are all world experts on ourselves and are best placed to come up with our own solutions; his role is to facilitate that process.
What to expect
Coachees will be determined, curious, courageous and committed. In return they can expect genuine empathy, support and just the right amount of challenge to help them discover and develop the answers they need to achieve their goals. Thinking and reflection will be required throughout, and between sessions.
