Harvey spent the first 27 years of his career in the automotive industry with Rover Group and BMW Group. He started in research, and has held a wide variety of roles in product development, new product planning, production control, manufacturing, strategy and business planning. Since 2004, Harvey has worked as a consultant, trainer and coach who has helped private and public sector operations to improve their operating processes, by engaging and realising the potential of their staff through better processes and collaboration.
This has been achieved by improving personal effectiveness in working with other teams and functions in the areas of:
- Effective product development team working
- Collaboration between product development and supply chain development
- Manufacturing processes and supplier engagement
Coaching approach
Harvey’s approach to coaching is heavily influenced by his corporate and consultancy career, which has instilled a firm belief that high performance in organisations and individuals is best achieved through a balanced combination of great process and effective working relationships, where individuals are released and equipped to take responsibility for their own performance.
While focussing on helping clients explore their chosen themes in a safe and supportive yet challenging environment, he draws on his own experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams and individuals in a wide range of organisations to introduce relevant theory, models and examples to support their thinking.
Harvey adopts a structured yet flexible approach, tailored for each client, to help them explore their current situation holistically, identify clear goals and a route to achieve them.
What to expect
Coachees can expect a safe, supportive environment where they can “be themselves” and will gain maximum benefit from being open and committed to being challenged and stretched. Expect to think deeply about your chosen topics, aided by powerful questions that will dig beneath the surface. You will take responsibility for selecting your own goals and actions to complete between sessions.
