Summary
The UK’s energy system transition is underpinned by a number of technologies, most of which rely significantly on pressure systems and equipment.

In many cases there is the opportunity to repurpose existing infrastructure and assets, in others there is a requirement for safe, reliable, and sustainable design.
This seminar will address the challenges for pressure systems engineers in the energy sector who are working to ensure their assets meet the demands of this once-in-a-lifetime transition. These include the transport and storage of hydrogen and carbon dioxide, both of which exert additional risks compared to gases like methane, air or steam. Additionally, much of the infrastructure to be utilised in decarbonisation is mature – meaning it will need to be life-extended and retrofitted for its new application. Furthermore, the standards for the transport and storage of hydrogen and carbon capture are not as mature or well understood.
In concert with these challenges, the remote or offshore placement of much of this infrastructure constrains the practical level of inspection and maintenance which can be carried out compared to traditional onsite operations. This necessitates better design for inspections or safety cases that call for reduced maintenance.
This event will bring together experts in the design, manufacture, structural integrity management, operation, inspection, and maintenance of pressure equipment in the energy sector, enabling the sharing and transfer of best practice. Through a mix of case-study presentations and expert knowledge sharing, this seminar will reduce your risk of safety incidents, unplanned outages, and environmental hazards.
Who should attend?
CO-LOCATED EVENT - ACCESS 2 EVENTS IN ONE LOCATION:
This seminar is co-located with the Institution's Engineering Challenges in Carbon Capture, Transport, and Storage seminar. Attendees to either seminar will have access to shared networking opportunities throughout the day. Attendees will receive copies of the slides from both seminars post-event.
Maximise your organisation's learning and networking opportunities for your organisation! Companies sending three delegates across both events are eligible for a 10% discount on registration, and those sending four or more delegates will receive a 15% discount.
To organise your group booking, just contact our Event Enquiries team and we would be delighted to make all the arrangements.
