Who should attend?

This course is suited to anybody who is involved in the introduction of new rolling stock, or in the development and implementation of changes to existing rolling stock (including changes to maintenance regimes and components in the supply chain). It is also suited to infrastructure managers and system operators to recognise how the duty of cooperation is discharged when changes are made to rolling stock or to infrastructure systems and operating arrangements.

The course addresses the requirements as they apply to all types of railway system, including mainline, metro and tram, passenger and freight.

How will I benefit?

  • Explain the processes for acceptance of new or substantially modified rolling stock on UK railway systems.
  • Explain the processes for acceptance of rolling stock subject to minor change.
  • Explain the roles and responsibilities of regulators and all other parties involved in the acceptance of new and modified rolling stock, its operation or maintenance.
  • Explain when engagement with compliance verification and independent assessment bodies (ApBo/DeBo/AsBo) is required and the methodology by which their activities are undertaken.
  • Explain the principal; documentary evidence in, and outputs from, the processes.
