Summary

Each year, the Young Engineers and Apprentices Railway Seminar (YEARS) provides those new to the rail industry with valuable insights into the current developments of the industry.

YEARS also provides an opportunity to network with peers from across the industry and foster a more collaborative approach to solving problems in the future. As an event aimed at early careers, the YEARS can provide an excellent opportunity for young rail engineers and apprentices to meet in person, fully engage with others from the railway family and kick-start their career in rail.

This edition of YEARS will navigate the challenges and opportunities presented by a regionalised rail approach, discovering how localised solutions can empower communities, boost economies, and connect our people.

The role of transport authorities across the UK will be explored, with attendees encouraged to consider how this could evolve and become embedded as part of a future Great British Railways landscape. Building on the success of last year’s seminar on the theme of Integrated Travel, we will explore the current advancements and innovations taking place to expand and improve regional transport services in Wales, delivering benefits to local communities and beyond.
