Summary

The 15th biennial Incontinence: The Engineering Challenge conference aims to inform, encourage and inspire those keen to improve technology for diagnosing, treating, or managing urinary or faecal incontinence.

This unique event brings together engineers, clinicians, industry, academia, and patients to encourage collaboration across sectors, striving for improvements for patients and healthcare professionals using continence products.

Call for Abstracts now open - submit your presentation/poster abstract by 6 June 2025

Perhaps you have work you’d like to present at the conference? We're inviting contributions to report on both new research and developments on existing projects, a valuable chance to update our multidisciplinary audience on advances related to incontinence technology. The deadline for submissions is 6 June 2025. Decisions will be announced on all submissions by 30 June 2025.

Participate and Present

Abstracts will be reviewed by our Organising Committee and selected for either Podium Presentation or Multimedia Poster.

  • Podium presenters will also be asked to provide a slide for use in electronic conference proceedings.
  • Multimedia Poster presenters will be asked to pre-record a short (1-2 minute) presentation as a video. This will be made available online (via the IMechE website) prior to the conference and then used in interactive poster sessions during the conference to highlight your work. Full instructions and a template will be provided.
  • Sponsored prizes will be awarded by a judging panel to selected multimedia posters.

The presenting author of each presentation will be entitled to a substantial reduction in the registration fee and authors are expected to attend the seminar to present their work.

Submission Process

Abstracts should be up to 250 words and state authorship and affiliations. When submitting please state your preference for a multimedia poster presentation or a podium presentation. Abstracts should provide the aim and rationale for the work you are presenting, outline your methods and results, and indicate the significance of what you have found or achieved.

Final acceptance of all submissions will depend upon the Organising Committee’s decision. If you are unsure whether your work would be suitable, feel free to contact Professor Alan Cottenden or Professor Peter Culmer, the Organising Committee Co-Chairs, on a.cottenden@ucl.ac.uk or P.R.Culmer@leeds.ac.uk for advice.

To submit please fill the form: https://forms.office.com/e/b2xn3wGL7f
