This introductory course outlines the metallurgical principles of heat treatment, why heat treatment is carried out and the underlying theory behind heat treatment processes. This course covers both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, problems that can occur during heat treatment and an introduction to surface hardening of steels by heat treatment processes. The one day workshop is designed to give an understanding of the benefits of heat treating a range of metals and alloys. Knowledge gained allows delegates to specify and apply the correct heat treatment to a variety of alloys, leading to improved product performance and process efficiency.
