Our brand-new Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) learning programme will be designed to raise awareness, explore how to create equity, inclusion and belonging, and help each of us to take tangible steps/actions to make IMechE a visibly more inclusive organisation for our employees and our members.
But we cannot do it alone! We need your help to ensure we create the most inclusive learning that helps each of us look at the way our words and actions impact others and we need institution voices to be able to achieve this.
What is an Early Adopter?
An Early Adopter is an individual who is extremely passionate about helping to create fantastic conversations around Diversity, Inclusion (D&I) and everything in between, and someone who wants to be part of the journey early on who wants to have personal impact when it comes to this important topic.
Who is the perfect Early Adopter?
This learning is being designed for the people of IMechE so it’s vital we ensure all people feel represented and we’re looking for approximately 12 people; a mixture of employees and members from all corners of our organisation.
As this role is a volunteer role it’s important that those who want to start having an impact on creating inclusion at IMechE offer their time and support.
Why is this role important?
This role is essential to getting the learning materials, activities and action plans in place and means that IMechE voices are being heard during every phase of this learning journey.
What you’ll be doing to help?
You’ll be reviewing and feeding back on the learning materials that our learning partner is developing for the programme and making sure it is relevant to IMechE. You’ll be advocates for D&I and can help us to spread the message of the amazing work you’re doing to get this programme ready for release later in the year.
What’s in it for you?
You get the chance to be part of something amazing, a real journey and something that is going to help a lot of people who previously felt unheard or unseen at IMechE to feel that they belong. You will get a chance to be the voice of your department/work area, pave the way for others AND be able to show the variety of influence you have had in such an important project.
This is a development opportunity that supports your collaboration, problem-solving, influencing and communication skills as well as supports innovation through learning that can be added to your CPD and included in your CV.
How much time will you have to give?
We anticipate that you’ll only need to volunteer 3 hours once per month for 2 months, this will involve us sending you the learning materials (in their early stages) a week ahead of a meeting where we will review everyone’s thoughts as a larger group and decide on anything that needs to be adapted.
To register you interest, email diversity@imeche.org by Monday 24th of May.
